Question by Michelle: Banker’s Life and Casualty has invited me to interview for “sales management training program”, any incites?
After reviewing my application on Monster.com, Banker’s Life and Casualty Company want to interview me for a sales management training position. What exactly is this? Is this management or sales? i have spent the last 5 years working in retail management. What kind of compensation can I expect? I am in the las Vegas area. Thanks!

Strictly commission. If you already have a job that is paying the bills stay away until the economy picks up. Not many people are looking to buy life insurance at this time. But thats just my take on the subject. You may be a great sales person and do well. Good luck.
This is a sales job and you will be selling insurance. Give you an idea of your work week. Every Monday you will come and line up appointments by calling on people. They want you to get 5 appointments a day for Tues. and Weds. Then Thurs in office to make sales calls for friday. They will tell you it’s a numbers game- more people you get in front of, better chance on selling. These people you are calling are older folks that filled out a card so they could get a free “life alert” and will probably hang up on you after calling you an expletive because you interrupted price is right. Its not all bad, you can make money, but there are obstacles like poor health where they can’t qualify or they simply don’t have any money to spend on insurance. Compensation is commission only, in any week you can make anywhere from $0 to $1500. Well good luck.
I worked there when I was younger. My advice is run far and fast. Bakers is famous for hiring anyone. The first thing they will do is tell you to sell to your soft market. In other words hit up your family and friends and sell them life insurance.
It is true it is a numbers game but the one running the numbers is the sales management. They work similar to a multi level marketing company in that the manager above you gets paid an over ride on what you produce. In addition, when you leave, the manager above you gets the accounts that you have created.
Therefore, it is in the managers best interest to bring in a lot of people and have them sell. They will get 30 people who will each sell an average of 2 policies. Of the original 30 people half will leave in the first month. The second month the manager will be left with only a couple of the original 30. They then start the process over again.
Finally, I will leave you with this. My wife has never sold a thing in her life. Her degree is in Industrial Engineering and they recruit her on a regular basis saying based on her experience she would be excellent for sales management.

Those answers are mostly bogus. Yes it’s commission only. Yes your calling the senior market. After that the rest is wrong.
The people your calling did request Medicare and insurance information. It’s not a marketing scheme. Go to the interview and see for yourself. If you feel it’s not for you then that’s it.
The people who aswered your question couldn’t make it happen at Bankers and now they’re justifying their failures with excuses.
